Glass Baby Bottles Making a Comeback

Several months ago, the popular line of Nalgene drinking containers was recalled, after a Canadian study found a possible link between health risks and BPA, a chemical used in Nalgene products. This shocked many people, as these products were considered extremely safe. They were thought to present no health hazards, which is one of the reasons they became extremely popular. The other main reason so many people were buying the products was because Nalgene was virtually indestructible. And Nalgene wasn't the only manufacturer using BPA in their bottles. Many companies did, including baby bottle makers. Now that products containing BPA are gone, what are many moms turning to when it comes to buying a baby bottle?

Well, believe it or not, glass is becoming a more and more popular choice for baby bottles every day. Many people are probably unaware that you can even buy a glass baby bottle these days, just as many people under the age of 20 have no idea that soft drinks used to come in glass bottles. Most people quit using glass baby bottles decades ago, mainly for safety reasons. But glass is by far the most natural choice for a container, and doesn't contain lots of strange chemicals, unlike virtually every other alternative baby bottle. Human being have been drinking out of glass for thousands of years, including babies, and for many health conscious parents it's the obvious choice.

What about the risk of the glass breaking and cutting your baby? The glass used in baby bottles is quite thick, making a broken baby bottle far less likely than a broken dinner glass. But that doesn't mean it's impossible. A parent simply has to use common sense when it comes to glass baby bottles. Never let your baby run with a glass bottle, and never let the baby drink out of it unsupervised. If you follow those two rules, glass baby bottles are perfectly safe, and are a great choice for parents looking to reduce their children's exposure to chemicals.
